Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
We need at least one full back who is primarily a defender first and winging is not his main game.

Need another 4 or 5 good players.

It's got to be bullshit considering we could've offered him a deal since January until he signed a new contract with Inter just last week. Why pay a fee for a player you could've signed for nothing a few weeks ago???

Lassana Diarra has been granted FIFA clearance to sign for West Ham. He had been training with the club for several months after agreeing a deal but FIFA held him back, until now!

This might cause a little optimism

With all the gaps inthe squad that need filling I find it surprising that we are now apparently chasing another CB! ~ Ranocchia, Inter's captain

Surely this is just papertalk ~ How many CB's do we need?

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
Anybody who is taking any real notice of our scoreline last night needs to take a long hard look at themselves, which I assume is what this thread is based on.

We are short in areas, no denying that, but I would imagine the owners are still scouting around. Bilic has only been with us for two weeks, we are one foot in the third round of the Europa league qualifiers. He may well have to fast track one or two players into the first team for that game, but I still think we will get the job done.

If the squad is as thin as some people suggest, then the Europa League Groups stages will not help one iota.

Get Austin or Hernandez and Song back and I'll be as happy as a pig in shit.

It's already better than last season's squad with a couple more to come in hopefully.

We still need to get shot of few of our Championship players, but we're getting there.

What's our net spend so far with wages?

For what though, Alf?

Do you honestly think we'll get relegated if we don't sign 5 more players?

Bilic said on SSN that he expects at least 6 more signings before the season opener.

And of course Song, if not him then he needs to be replaced properly

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
We need a Downing replacement, a striker, back up for Payet(Lanzini?) and another winger oh and a back up right back....

We need another striker, that's my main concern.

O'Brien - I think he's been great for us and played regularly in our best Prem finish since promotion, often on the left. I have absolutely no problem with him being in and around the team.

Nolan - okay it would be better if he left, but I still think he's a decent enough midfield player who works diligently and has good touch and leadership qualities. I think he's being judged guilty by association with the previous manager.

Amalfitano - Okay apparently had a stinker last night, but I think he's one of our better creative players. That looping shot that hit the bar in the first round was exquisite skill. I think he's very versatile too - can play anywhere across the midfield and look comfortable and creative. I rate him above Downing, Jarvis and Valencia in the wide roles.

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
I think you only had to watch last night to see that the depth in quality is simply not there yet.

If Payet and Obang and Sakho are out injured, only 3 players, we would be playing Noble and Nolan as the midfield axis, we have no Downing to create anything and would rely on Maiga and young Lee to get the goals or worse than that we rely on Carroll getting and staying fit.

We are well short at the moment. Need Song, 2 more midfielders and one out wide and a striker. 4 players short, maybe 5. IMHO of course. :-)
